About this event
Vancouver’s Granville Bridge is the city’s icon of 1950s transportation thinking – designed to connect to freeways that were never built. This resulted in a bridge with more vehicle capacity than could possibly be used while imposing a significant pedestrian and cycling barrier between the city’s densest areas.
Join us for an overview and discussion of the City’s process to evaluate and engage on an exhaustive set of 20+ design concepts that led to Council’s approval to use the existing bridge deck by taking advantage of excess vehicle capacity, including addressing free-flow ramp crossings. The result will be game-changing for the city, with construction of an interim design set to begin 2021.
