Event Description:
The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority’s Habitat Enhancement Program (HEP) is a port authority initiative focused on creating, restoring and enhancing fish and wildlife habitat in advance of port development. HEP is developing the Maplewood Marine Restoration Project, a proposed habitat restoration project located on the north shore of Burrard Inlet, approximately two kilometres east of the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge, in the District of North Vancouver. The port authority is proposing to use the Maplewood Marine Restoration Project as a fisheries habitat offsetting site for the proposed Centerm Expansion Project in Vancouver Harbour.
The Maplewood Marine Restoration Project would enhance approximately seven hectares of lower-value marine habitat into higher-value intertidal, eelgrass and subtidal rock reef habitat, all of which is anticipated to provide long-term benefits for fish, invertebrates and wildlife.
