We are excited to partner with Quin Mackenzie, of Stantec Consulting, who will present on how Envison Certification has come to represent the success of BCIT’s recently completed North Campus Infrastructure Project.
This $46.9 million project provides a critical upgrade to the campus’ electrical infrastructure, improving resiliency and reliability of a system that currently serves about 50% of BCIT’s Burnaby campus, including all of the campus’ trades-based educational programs. The project included the construction of a new receiving substation at Canada Way, replacement of 11 substations and the establishment of new BC Hydro connections at the corner of Carey Ave and Canada Way. A number of enhancements and additions to public space were also completed.
Achieving Envision Gold certification is a result of the collaborative efforts of Project partners, spanning across disciplines and organizations, all who are dedicated to the successful delivery of this innovative, and sustainable project at BCIT. The Envision system examines the impact of sustainable infrastructure projects as a whole, through five distinct categories: Quality of Life, Leadership, Resource Allocation, Natural World, and Climate and Resilience. These key areas contribute to the positive social, economic, and environmental impacts on a community.
